The data analysis of the legal status of business allows to acquire other important information for understanding the entrepreneurial environment that characterizes the industry. The data most important concerns the large number of individual companies representing the 92.8% of active enterprises. The individual firm is the legal form traditionally preferred in the agriculture industry, since it allows to minimize burdens and obligations. Corporations and partnerships account for 2.1% and 4.7% of total. The last 0.6% consists in other legal forms that, in the wine sector, play a major role in both side production and sales.

Trends analysis of the industry confirms the indication emerged since 2000 of a progressive majority structuring of the industry towards more developed legal forms. The upward trend of firms in the form of a corporation is reaffirmed in the period 2005-2008 registering an increase of major importance of 17.8%. Partnerships and other forms of companies increased between 5% and 10% against a decline in individual firms of 8.2%. The evolution towards a more structured legal forms emerges as a requirement for companies that need technical solutions and organizational, managerial, financial, legal and tax help to cope with the challenge of internationalization.

In Veneto the changing characteristics of the sector highlights, over the period 2005-2008, a reduction in the number of businesses, with some exceptions, a large part of the industry is moving towards legal forms more complex, the increasing in the number of bottlers against a reduction in the number of wine producers is a symptom of the greater appeal to the decentralization of production enterprises through outsourcing to specialized companies.

The previous paragraph was dedicated to deepening and assessment the business structure of the industry according to data provided by Infocamere updated to 2008. In the follow one it should be considered the dynamics of the cultivation of grape and wine process production in the period 2002-2007. The analysis is carried out using ISTAT data for an overall assessment of the area planted, wine production and positioning of the Veneto wine.
Overall, in Veneto, there is a slight increase of cultivated area for wine grapes. In 2007 were devoted to the cultivation 76.049 hectares with an increase of 0.9% annually from 2002. Considering instead the analysis of production volumes, it appears that in Veneto wine grape production is equal to over 10 470 million tons with an increase of 2.5% annually from 2002. From the analysis of data on winemaking (vinificazione) in Veneto the wine production is equal to 42513 million hectoliters, in 2007, registering an average annual increase of 2,6% compared to 2002.
