The Real World of Communication

Unit Overview
Unit One consists of two weeks. Its purpose is to provide a historical and sy
picture” issues relating to political communication broadly defined. Week one
from classic texts in political theory, and notably Aristotle, Machiavelli, and M
address the early period of modern media history, where the origins of our c
culture were established, and interpret this period using Habermas’s concept o
Week two offers three contemporary political theory texts relating to com
Foucault, hooks, and Chomsky. The unit notes speak to the work of Thom
Canadian political theorist, and offer a case study in compassion fatigue.
