Transnational Project Teams

Introduction
The rapid movements of goods and services across national borders have created enormous business opportunities and as the world moves towards a 代写留学生论文more globalized environment the building of cross national project teams have become a source of a dilemma and a challenge.  Marquadt et al (2001) state that organizations have since recognized that succeeding in the global marketplace cannot occur without the building of a strong and effective global teams.  However, as they start building these global teams, some organizational efforts become a failure not only because of differences in distances and time zones but also because of misunderstanding in languages and cultures.  As such, these challenges are posing a great threat to the ability of the organization to build effective global teams.  Project management is increasing in popularity and is rapidly becoming a standard way of doing business (Gray & Larson, 2008).  As a result of this, project teams are being introduced more frequently in organisations.  Project teams are temporary and are put together with the aim of delivering a project.  One major benefit of project teams is that they allow direct communication between team members which simplifies the process (Maylor et al, 2006).  Transnational project teams are thriving in various business contexts (Chevrier, 2003) and provide many opportunities for organisations.  Although, transnational project teams are increasing in popularity among many global organisations, there are problems associated with them.  This has led to the following research question being developed: What are the challenges involved in managing transnational project teams?
 
The following topics were identified in order to answer the research question: (1) What are project teams, (2) What are transnational project teams, (3) How important are project teams in the performance of transnational organisations, (4) What challenges are involved in managing transnational project teams and (5) how can these challenges be minimised/overcome.

The number of sources relating to the specific topic, the challenges involved in managing transnational project teams, is fairly limited.  However, there are many sources about project teams in general and also transnational organisations so these have been included in this annotated bibliography to provide background information on the topic.
