成功申请英国帝国理工学院的医学PS

I was brought up by my grandparents up to the age of 11, when I came to England not knowing a word of English. As a little girl, I remembered telling my granddad, who always suffered from diabetes, that I would treat him when I had grown up. Although he passed away last year, this promise has never left from my mind. My desire to of bring hope and treat others' illness has been with me since.

My aspiration for medicine was deepened by the studies of my A-levels. While the three sciences give me an insight to the inside our bodies and the world around us, maths has trained me to be a logical thinker. These different fields of science and maths are like a cubism painting - each part is intricate and interplays with the others. I have also tried to extend my view beyond this picture by regularly reading the New Scientist.

The public regards medical professionals as trustworthy and respectful. However, I understand this trust comes with responsibilities and doctors are respected because of their esteem for human lives. It is a challenging career, and to test my readiness, I undertook a week's placement at the Heartlands Hospital. During the week, I experienced the busy atmosphere of a hospital and interacted with less mobile patients. Seeing them doing their best with the patient help from physiotherapists was uplifting. I also went onto wards and the ICU, where I saw teamwork and individual commitment were essential in providing quality care. It was also interesting to see the physiotherapist performing acupuncture, which was quite different to the acupuncture I previously observed by a BAcC acupuncturist. In addition, I shadowed doctors at University Hospitals, and I will never forget the concern and compassion that a breast consultant showed when breaking the bad news to a lady in her 20s. It made me think that sometimes, the patients need a good communicator, as well as a good doctor. Furthermore, I have undertaken work experience at a local GP surgery. It again helped me to see the importance of teamwork.

I undertook the Duke of Edinburgh Silver Award. During the expedition, I was never left alone when facing difficulties; we all contributed when making hard decisions; when we realised we had taken the wrong path, the only words I heard were encouragement. It was an invaluable experience, as it taught me the full meaning of teamwork. Thanks to my team-mates, the difficulties we encountered did not deter me, but were a motivation for me to take the tougher Gold challenge.

I am an active participant in school; in year 11, I was a member of the school parliament, and taking others' opinion into account was the core of this role. This year, I helped in my school open evening, have been a tutor assistant, took the role of leader on Challenge day, and participated in form projects. By taking part in these events, I have improved my organisation and leadership skills, which I believe are essential for a good doctor. I have also played the violin for the school orchestra, which involves dedication and the tacit agreement of each orchestral player to produce the best sound.

Once a week, I volunteer at my local hospital and at the WRVS shop. At the hospital, I assist the elderly patients in activities to improve their quality of life. It makes me feel great self-worth to know that I am needed by others. I enjoy volunteering at WRVS, because I am in a trusted team 论文英语论文网提供整理,提供论文代写英语论文代写代写论文代写英语论文代写留学生论文代写英文论文留学生论文代写相关核心关键词搜索。
