‘See, it works!’ when I showed the small and simple radio assembled by myself to all my classmates, I saw the envious faces which were skeptical 20 minutes ago. I was the only one who can handle the electronic components and even make it receive news and music successfully within 20 minutes in my class! That was in my high school, and I knew I can make ‘magic things’ by playing with the little dinky components and parts.

With the strong interest in the electronic world, I entered abc university with a major in Microelectronics. I was not only deeply attracted by the principles and theories of the coursed such as microelectronic integrated circuit and semiconductor physics, but immersed myself in the interesting experiments which could practice the knowledge I learnt and explore the new areas I was curious about. The great interest and hard work brought me strong academic background. My GPA was 3.36 out of 4 which ranked top 10% of my class was. Besides, I received the scholarships for my excellent performance straight from 2008 to 2010. In addition to the solid knowledge base, I also conducted many experiments that stimulated and cultivated my interests in having in-depth study in this area. In my sophomore year, I had an experiment to make a router with other four classmates. I worked on the PCB design layout, routing, and testing, participated in the PCB making and completed the welding. The most amazing thing was the router made by ourselves could work perfectly in our dorm. Through the experiment like this, I feel the half real and half invisible electronic world is like a magic that could transfer the theories and principles into the useful electronic products or equipment. I’m the magician who can master this process and bring the advancement or even change to people’s life!

Outside class, I also proactively participated in extracurricular activities which enhanced my practical ability and enriched my electricity knowledge. In my junior year, I formed a team of three to participate in the electronic appliance competition held by my college. By working together with my team members, I designed the EDA traffic signals which included VHDL programming that controls the circuit, simulation testing and result demonstration. During the whole process, we had many difficulties. But my team members and I tried our best to solve the problems by searching information online, reading technical notes from liability and consulting our professors. This practice brought me a valuable experience to think independently, search usefully information that beyond class and to work as a team to complete a project.

Besides what I’ve achieved in my academic area and extracurricular activities, I developed my communications skills, teamwork and leadership capabilities. From June 20 to September 3, 2010, I had my internship at Six Flags Magic Mountain, a theme park located in Valencia, California. I worked as a host, and was responsible for the facilities inspection, guest reception and communications. I learnt how to make little kids laugh while they were waiting in the line, how to persuade angry customers to wait while the facilities were in the inspection, and learnt how to work with other colleagues to manage the guest reception during the peak time.
