1.1 The history of WTO
The World Trade Organization (WTO) came into being in 1995. The origin form of WTO is General Agreement on Tariff and Trade (GATT). WTO is the only international organization dealing with the global rules of trade between nations. Its main function is to ensure that smoothness, predictability and freedom of trade (http://www.wto.org).
Before WTO came into the world, the multilateral trading system already existed under GATT for more than 50 years. GATT or WTO are both the international organization to deal with the global rules of trade between nations in relation to issues such as dumping, anti-dumping, tariff, barriers and others.
