摘要:本文是英语阅读论文,笔者认为随着新课程改革的深入发展,要求教师改变当前英语课堂的教学模式,集中精力于转变学生的学习方式,使学生变为积极独立的学习者,从而提高课堂学习效率,培养学生自主学习能力。
Chapter One Introduction
1.1 Background of the study
With the rapid development of the economy and culture, English plays a crucial role in international communication. Chinese need to communicate culture, science, and technology with foreign countries in English. Therefore, under this circumstance, it can be seen that learning English well is one of the most vital tasks for Chinese students. What’s more, among the four basic language skills, reading is considered to be the most important one in cultivating students’ integrated language ability. Hence, reading takes a considerable proportion in various examinations. Recently, in English teaching classes in junior high school, a large number of teachers spend a great deal of time and energy in teaching English reading by traditional teaching model. However, some problems still exist in the process of English reading teaching. For instance, in traditional teacher-centered teaching class, the teacher put much emphasis on language points. On the one hand, the teacher introduces new vocabulary and explains grammar focus, and then, the teacher explains the literal meaning sentence by sentence or words by words. On the other hand, the students just listen to teacher’s explanation passively and write down
notes mechanically. In the reading class, the teacher plays the dominant role, and the students receive knowledge under the teacher’s requirement. To be frank, this pedagogy has no benefits to the students’ ability and it pays more attention to grammar analysis rather than promoting students’ English reading proficiency. In a conclusion, the traditional teaching model leads to the result that students’ enthusiasm, initiative and creativity can’t be aroused. Students depend on teachers’ instruction and lack the learning initiative and consequently have low grades. In addition, students will gradually lose interests in English reading learning.

1.2 Purpose of the study
The purposes of this study are following. The first one is to provide a more effective reading teaching method for junior high school students based on their cognitive styles and personality traits. As primary learners in English learning, junior high school students are skilled in considering in terms of images. What’s more, junior high school students are adolescents, who are active and curious about novel things, so they prefer to explore new things by themselves and to involve themselves in the learning process. The second one is to explore the effect of the application of guided learning plan teaching
