pay more attention to the teaching process of the Englishreading, and the students receive the traditional method in English class. Although thestudents have spent more time on the English reading comprehension, they do not find aneffective way to read the passages. Although the traditional teaching method has been used inthe English reading class for many years, the students can not get good results and they losethe interests in English reading. They are afraid of the English tests, and the students do notknow how to improve their reading ability.The teachers try many different teaching methods in English reading so as to improvethe students’ marks. Although the students have got many skills on the English tests, thestudents find that it difficult to get a satisfying score in English reading. The main reason isthat they do not have a better understanding of the passage, when they read the materials, theytry to understand the meaning of each words, and neglect the lexical chunks in the wholepassage.The lexical chunks approach makes it possible to give the students a new way whenthey read the new materials. With the help of the approach, the teacher can provide the newteaching method to the students in English reading class. The study aims to find an effective way to improve the students’ reading ability and testify whether the lexical chunk approachhave an influence on the students’ interests in English reading.The students can not only gain a good way to read the English passages, they spend lesstime in the English reading comprehension. The lexical chunks help the students develop theirlanguage ability, and they avoid memorizing the individual words and phrases. This papertends to the make an exploration on the influence of lexical chunks in English reading class.Through the three months’ teaching on English reading for the students in senior high school,the students will be trained in the following aspects. The students’ ability of gaining mainideas of the reading materials, the author’ writing attention, and the ability of guessing themeanings of the important lexical chunks will be mainly cultivated in the English readingclass.

Chapter Two Literatu re Review
In this section, the author mainly presents the five parts. Firstly, the basic introductionof the lexical chunk approach and it contains three parts, the definitions and the classificationsof the lexical chunks, and the functions of the approach are introduced in this part. Secondly,the relevant theories are mentioned related to the lexical chunk approach, and the theory oflanguage acquisition and Krashen’s input theory will be presented. Thirdly, the authorillustrates the reading in English language teaching and learning and it includes theclassifications of the reading types and the teaching models. Fourthly, the author describes therelationship between the English reading and the lexical chunks approach. Lastly, the previousstudies of the lexical chunk approach abroad and at home are presented.
2.1 Lexical Chunks
This part includes the classifications and functions of the lexical chunks.
