The majority of on-campusstudents are international students, mostly aged in their 20s or 30s, including males and females, andnative English speakers (NS) and non-native English speakers (NNS). Their previous professionalexperiences range in length as well as types and levels of teaching in various contexts.
3.2 Research Questions
The main research questions of the study are: What are the different ways that the M. TESOLprogram graduates make links between the program and their different teaching contexts? What effectdoes the program have on their perceptions of their teaching?
The following subquestions are specifically targeted:
•Which aspects of the program are relevant to the M. TESOL graduates teaching in differentcontexts?
•Is there anything in the program that they value even though it is not directly relevant to theirteaching contexts?
•Is there anything that they learned that contradicts their teaching contexts?
•Has what they learned in the program changed their teaching and contributed to their confidencein teaching?
3.3 Participants
The participants are the graduates who completed the M. TESOL program internally at the
Australian university and have had teaching experience since their completion of the program. The studyrequested 15 ex-students who were in the program in 2006 to participate in the research. Of 15 potentialparticipants, 12 agreed to answer the questionnaire and 10 of them have actually done so.
3.4 Data Collection Instrument
The data collection tool was an email questionnaire. The questionnaire included both closed and openended questions. It consisted of the following three sections: (Section 1) Background information about
participants (e•g•gender, age, nationality, education, experience, teaching philosophy); (Section 2)Background information about participants current teachingcontexts(e•g•country, type of school,level, age, gender and nationality of students, size of class, teaching contents and resources); (Section
3) Key questions relating to the research questions (see Appendix).
3.5 Data Analysis Approach
The data analysis approach employed was mainly qualitative research analysis. The following tableshows the overall structure of data gathering and data analysis of the study.

4. Results and Discussion
4.1 Participants Backgrounds and Current Teaching Contexts
The study examined the participants diverse backgrounds and teaching contexts in Sections 1 and 2 ofthe questionnaire.The results show that the 10 participants consisted of 4 NS (3 Canadians and 1 Australian) and 6 NNS
