An investigation of using problem-based learning in physical education teaching
Chapter 1: Description of the problem
1.1 Introduction
In China, there is an ancient great educator named Confucius, who was greatly respected by a lot of Chinese people, especially ancient Chinese people.代写论文多少钱 More than 2000 years ago, Confucius had a lot of things to say about how to teach and how to study. Another Chinese educator Han Yu said, “A teacher is to propagate the doctrines of the ancient sages, give academic instructions, and remove doubts in life”. From these things, we can know that our ancestors pay more attention to the research of teaching method. But now, we ignored it and our education quality was fall down. So we should take some action to the research of teaching method.
In China, we often use the traditional teaching method in all kinds of education. The traditional teaching method was created in the previous period, and it was fit to the surrounding of that period. In nowadays, many things were changed, so we should find a new teaching method that can fit today’s surrounding. In the following, we gave the features of traditional teaching method.
◆Emphasis is on cognitive development;
◆Few materials for sensory development;
◆Teacher is primary enforcer of discipline;
◆Same age grouping;
◆Most teaching is done by the teacher Working together is discouraged;
◆Teacher is focus of classroom;
◆Mainly group instruction;
◆Set curriculum is structured for the student;
◆Student usually assigned own chair;
◆Student is guided to concepts by the teacher;
◆Instruction pace is usually set by group norm;
◆Student is generally allotted specific time for work on a specific project or assignment Projects usually chosen by the teacher;
◆Learning is reinforced externally by repetition and rewards;
◆If work is corrected, errors usually are pointed out by the teacher;
◆Less Emphasis on self-care instruction;
◆Voluntary parent involvement.
From the feature of traditional teaching method, we can see many disadvantage of traditional teaching method. So we should learn and

Problem-based learning (PBL) is becoming increasingly widespread in U.S. medical education. The growth of PBL as an educational model brings with it both new challenges and new opportunities for other knowledge teaching, such as physical education.
Problem-based learning is an instructional approach that challenges students to seek solutions to real-world (open-ended) problems by themselves or in groups, rather than learn primarily through lectures or textbooks. More importantly, PBL engages students in developing skills as self-directed learners. Problems are selected to exploit natural curiosity by connecting learning to students daily lives and emphasizing the use of critical and analytical thinking skills.
