Studies on identity construction from the perspective of sociolinguistic lay its focus on the following social variables, for example, ethnicity, religion, status, gender, level of education, etc. Erickson (2005) remains one of the earliest psychologists to step into the field of identity construction. His main concern is the life-long identity formation through a person's life. Marria (1996), started from a cognitive-behavioral perspective, investigates the identity formation in progress, based on the notion that individuals apply certain identity strategies to adopt the social world. Fairclough (1995), declares that the identity is often constructed through the language text. A considerable body of research have been done from the perspective of social, sociolinguistics, pragmatic, and psychological. Therefore, there is no need for me to elaborate or duplicate the previous researches, here, I will present a brief introduction to them and immediately turn to the identity construction closely related to my paper in the following paragraphs.

Chapter Five: Findings and Discussions
In the previous chapter 3, a through analytical framework concerning the present study have been demonstrated. In this chapter, the author will adopt the above-mentioned MCA and VG as the principal frameworks to search into the campus graffitists' identity construction through the collected data. To be more specific, this chapter will begin with an analysis of the general characteristics of the graffiti context in terms of lexical, syntactic and other extra linguistic features. By researching into the composition of the graffiti on campus, the author intends to reveal how the graffitists apply campus surfaces as interactional modes to express themselves and construct their particular identities. Then, an exhaustive analysis about the graffitists’ identity construction will be laid on the basis of MCA and VG.
