Essay Wrting Requirements

o This topic is focusing on three related areas in strategy: vision, mission and the objectives.  The lecture will deal mainly with the importance of the overall vision that organisations should possess and various issues relating to corporate mision statements. The seminars will focus on company objectives in the context of the debate about which, if any, stakeholders should be prioritised in the companies policies and strategies.
o Vision, mission and specific objectives are all part of the hierarchy of objectives for organisations. These relationships will be explored in more detail in the lecture.  Bear in mind that different people - managers, employees, other companies, analysts/ consultants, external stakeholders and academics - are all interested in analysing the objectives of companies and will have different perspectives and ideas. 
o For managers in companies part of the difficulty in setting those objectives, and devising strategy to meet them, is the cultural and political processes taking place in their companies. Managers obviously set objectives bearing all these things in mind. This, of course, is what makes strategy-making in real time such a difficult and dynamic process. There is, perhaps, a danger that the dynamic nature of strategic decision-making will not be given sufficient attention in your studies. Remember with the benefit of hindsight it is difficult to be wrong!
