1. Background & Executive summary
Every thing began in May 1992. In that year, Nintendo broke the contract with Sony, which involves developing CD-ROM console for SFC (Super Family Computer), and push Sony to make the choice: either shut down the project or take this chance to develop its own video-game console. The former choice will unavoidably cause a large number of losses, while the latter one will take Sony to the battlefield of video-game industry and compete with Nintendo. We all know the final answer, but at that time the decision is really hard to make. At last, Sony found the SCE (Sony Computer Entertainment Inc) to develop the PS-X game console, declared the war against Nintendo. Due to the unprecedented success of Sony’s first video game console PS (Play Station), Sony gained the foothold point in this industry and then continually launched PSP (Portable Play Station), PS2 and PS3 to compete in the next generation video game console market. As in 2007 the SEGA, one of Sony’s and Nintendo’s biggest competitor in video game industry, announced to retreat from the video game hardware industry and transform into a software focused company, the collisions between Sony and Nintendo became more intense.

This paper will compare and analyze these two famous organizations in video-game industry, examine their technology strategies and operations in different times and stages. At last, make a prediction of their futures.

2. Introduction
2.1 Nintendo
Nintendo is the world’s number one video game company. It has only 850 employees, but used to beat super companies like Toyota on several occasions, became the most profitable company in Japan, and has created a myth that each employee earned a net profit of $1.5 million for the company. Nintendo focus more on the profit, this can be found out in the history that it try to monopolize the market. Until now, the Wii is still more like a kind of cash machine.

Besides “profit”, Nintendo cares about “Civilian”. Its organizational culture is “civilian entertainment”, and try to make its products enter the public’s mind.
