Chapter One Literature Review
Chen Ai Luo Ding, literally translated as The Dust Settles, is the Tibetan writer A Lai’s great work. The book wins the Fifth Mao Dun Prize for its poetic language and profound Tibetan culture. The book tells a fascinating story of the last chieftain’s family over a period of social disturbance and historical change. Some scholars also focus on the book’s language aesthetic. In Zhangchi’s “A Rhetorical Study of Language Aesthetic in A Lai’s Novel Dust Settled”, based on the detailed study on the phonology characteristic, word selection, rhetorical usage, and sentence arrangement, he explores the language aesthetic, and thus provides a new perspective for looking into A Lai’s literature creation.
