The removal of frontiers in 1993 has become a great event in all European Union (EU) countries. Companies have expanded their wings internationally. Many partnerships have been formed, exploring new challenges and opportunities and restructured production to exploit the opportunities of a home market of 370 million.

Later in this paper I will stress the benefits and advantages of this successful operation which is the consolidation of many markets into a single one. Since the formation of EU, people have freedom and mobility to shop, work or live in another EU country than their own. While on the other hand, on consumers' point of view, they are benefiting from increased choices of goods and services and the competitive prices that the single market has brought them.

Another great advantage for trip lovers is their freedom to enjoy the beauty and the culture of different countries by visiting them with no restriction. EU citizens can travel across most of the EU without a passport and without wasting their time with checking papers and documents. Shoppers have full consumer rights when shopping outside their country and there are no limits on what they can buy and take with them for personal use. This is a great integration among countries, and between different cultures which can exchange their traditional values.

European citizens have many more opportunities to live wherever they think is more appropriate, work wherever is more convenient and study wherever the education level is higher in the special field of study. More than 15 million EU citizens have moved to other EU countries to work or to enjoy their retirement, while 1.5 million young people have completed part of their studies in another Member State with the help of the Erasmus program.

Single markets offer a great variety of products and services compared to before. 73% of EU citizens think the Single Market has contributed positively to the range of products on offer, while the establishment of common standards has led to safer and environmentally friendlier products, such as food, cars and medicines.
