对大学生进行任务型词汇学习策略训练将词汇知识的学习、语言技能的发展和学习策略的培养有机地结合在了一起。该研究表明策略训练是有必要的,也是有效的。

1.1 Background of the Research研究背景
Nowadays, with the development of society and economy, English is widely usedfor communication around the world. In China, more and more people aspire to learnEnglish. https://www.51lunwen.org/languagethesis/ However, in the whole process of English learning, vocabulary has long beena great headache for the majority of Chinese students, ranging from young learners tocollege students. Students often ask their English teachers the same questions, such as“How to keep so many English words firmly in mind?” and “Why my English is stillpoor after memorizing large amounts of new words?” Meanwhile, a lot of Chinesecollege students always complain that words memorization is too boring and thatwords learned from textbooks cannot be applied to real life, so they are useless. InEnglish classrooms, primary and middle school students memorize common words andexpressions just to satisfy their curiosities and interests. After entering the university,students often find that the number and difficulty of vocabulary have increased, andthey fail to achieve the expected level of comprehension because of too many newwords. Even if some students work hard to look up every word they do not know in thedictionary, they complain that they cannot help forgetting. And they hardly haveopportunity to use new words and expressions both inside and outside of the classroom.If things go on like this, students often end up with dissatisfaction with their learningresults. They would even have an aversion to English learning, and eventually give uplearning. The phenomenon reveals that the difficulties of word study lay obstacle forcollege students’ English learning. Although students devote too much time and effortto vocabulary learning, they yield little harvest. Therefore, “Time consuming vs. lowefficiency” is thought of as the bottleneck which has negative impact on collegestudents’ vocabulary learning. The reasons for their problems are as follows:Firstly, vocabulary learning method is not scientific. During traditional vocabularylearning, teachers translate the Chinese meaning of each new word, and students areasked to memorize mechanically isolated words in a list. The learning process is readingaloud after the teacher, word explanation and rote. Students learn vocabulary by justlearning its Chinese translation in isolation of the context and without knowing itsformation rules or collocations. When the words are used in different contexts or incombination with other words in reading or listening materials, students easily getconfused with the meaning they remembered. They memorize new words and soonforget them, so they cannot achieve sense of success, and they become uninterested inEnglish learning. The traditional “spoon-filling” method, which pays too much attentionto knowledge infusion rather than learning process, is always adopted in ChineseEnglish classrooms without taking learning strategies into consideration. So it is veryimportant to make students be aware of how to learn vocabulary effectively and how touse vocabulary learning strategies.Secondly, Students’ misunderstanding of examinations like CET Band-4 and CETBand-6 has led to their unclear aims of vocabulary learning.
