摘要:本文是小学英语教学论文,本文探讨了开放式英语教学在农村小学的应用。笔者以兴城宏运希望小学五年级两个班的 66 名学生为研究对象,进行了 15 周的开放式英语教学的实践。一班作为实验班,采用开放式英语教学,二班作为控制班采用传统方式的英语教学。

1.1 Background of the study
In May 1999, the reform of the curriculum in elementary
Education has become abasic element of “Cross-century Quality Education Project” in our country. The systemclearly outline that English teaching aims at quality education, fully embodies thepeople-oriented education thought, and puts the cultivation of students’ interests, attitudeand confidence in the first place. Aiming at the quality-oriented education and theall-round development of students, the new English curriculum criterion was formed in2001. It manifests the advanced idea of the new curriculum, pays special attention to thebasic idea of “language use” and highlights the cultivation of students’ comprehensivelanguage ability.English teaching reform also has its profound social and education background.With the advancement of China’s reform and opening up, China’s economy isincreasingly integrated into the international environment of economic development, andeducation is also integrated into the international environment. The internationalizationof economy, culture and education sets higher demands of our country’s English teaching.It requires that English teaching should fully use modern technological means andnetwork information resources and make the English teaching contextualized, visualizedand communicative. At the same time, students’ learning style also changedfundamentally. In the process of cooperative learning, inquiry learning and autonomiclearning, only the teachers make students the main roles and give full play to theinteraction of teachers and students can be good for the improvement of students’communicative ability, and achieve internationalization of our education in China.

1.2 Purpose and significance of the study
Based on constructivism theory, English open teaching mode is a new start for bothteachers and students, especially in rural primary school, which has great significance inmany aspects.The purpose of the primary English course is to get students familiar with Englishand cultivate their interest in English in an early age, which can lay a solid foundation forEnglish learning in the future. A good teaching method can keep their passion for English,build their confidence in English and form a good habit of English learning. The openteaching mode emphasizes bilateral and multilateral interaction between teaching andlearning by leading students to explore, discuss and debate. It embodies the new idea ofnew curriculum reform, that is, the teacher acts as a knowledge facilitator and the studentis the constructor. Therefore, open teaching mode can also help students construct theconsciousness of lifelong learning which happens to be the core idea of education.Combining with the author’s open English teaching practice, the purpose of thisstudy is to replace the traditional English class pattern by this developing open teachingmode. This is to stimulate student’s interest in English, help them build self-confidenceand form good learning habits. Given all the significance of English open teaching mode,the present paper attempts to conduct an empirical study on English teaching to checkwhether English open teaching mode is an effective method to change and improve thestudents’ English learning situation in rural primary school.
