Abstract
The Modern media is seeing an increasing tendency towards being independent from government influence both on their finances and reporting. The British Broadcasting Corporation, referred to as the BBC, founded in 1992, is Britain’s largest news organization and one of the largest in the world. It is the most independent media in contemporary society which it is totally independent from the British Government which found in this paper. This paper aims at to discover the cope of government impact on the BBC. By the analysis of the BBC, in particular and particular on its coverage on the Iraq dossier, the paper found there are many differences the between the BBC and other media in the ways they report. The paper concluded that the BBC is free from government control in their news coverage and it gave the most reality to the publicity, it is the successful example of media independence.

1.1 Background  
1.1.1 Related works on British public media
When exploring the topic of public media system, people will always think first of all and look to the United Kingdom’s public media system due to the fact that the United Kingdom is the source of public broadcasting (Miracleand Nevett, 1988). Because of the historical reasons for British public media’s institutions, some scholars such as Kovacs (2003) believe it is the embodied and natural extension of the freedom idea for the public media. However, when we study this issue and find that, this understanding is not comprehensive enough. In fact, may but be so. The British public media is a product of the dual constraints of the government and the market (Davis, 2000).
