1.1 Background of the Study

Creating a better natural environment, aharmonious and stable social environment and friendly and harmonious human and culturalenvironment become the major focuses of the whole world currently. Problems and mistakes in translation of environmental protection-related publicsigns are quite obvious and rather serious. Thus C-E translation of environmentprotection-related public signs badly needs systematical and theoretical studies and requiresfeasible theoretical guidance.

1.2 Significance of the Study
