With the flourishing growthof global politics and economy, neologisms of political news both in Chinese andEnglish also have been mushroomed, and it deserves our further analysis and studyin this field. At the same time, scholars and researchers have rarely looked into thevery subject of neologisms of political news and most of them are just conducted incross-language studies; even fewer have further their studies from the perspective ofcognition. So the author in this paper would like to have a thorough study from theperspective of cognitive metaphor and metonymy so as to find the commonality anddifferences of neologisms of political news both in Chinese and English.

1.1 The Significance of the Study研究意义
After a meticulous and delicate study of the previous studies in this field，manyscholars and researchers just emphasize on the surface formation rules of neologism，and they just illustrate some neologisms from the perspective of semantics, and paylittle attention to the internal underlying word formation rules.
