al supreme political leader in Tibet, Sangye Gyatso, invited the young Tsangyang Gyatso to enthrone as Dalai Lama. Through this gesture, Sangye Gyatso sought to control Tsangyang Gyatso and make the puppet.”10 At that time, Lha-bzang Khan played a decisive role on the Tibetan affairs, which made Sangye Gyatso felt quite dissatisfied and attempted to monopolize the Tibetan power. As a result, Sangye Gyatso conspired to poison Lha-bzang Khan to death but unfortunately he failed, which in turn infuriated Lha-bzang Khan and was killed in the end. After Sangye Gyatso’s death, Lha-bzang Khan spearhead quickly against Tsangyang Gyatso by slandering him to be a fake Dalai and insisted on deposing his title as the 6th Dalai Lama. Considering the current political situation of Tibet, Emperor Kangxi decided to support Lha-bzang Khan and acquiesced in his proposal. In the end, Tsangyang Gyatso’s title of “Dalai Lama VI” was abolished and he was orderd to be immediately escorted to Beijing, the capital of the Qing Dynasty. Tsangyang Gyatso was actually the victim of the political struggle and he could not eventually get rid of the tragic fate although he was identified as the reincarnation of Dalai Lama V. In his deep heart, Tsangyang Gyatso detested the intricated political environment and harsh religious life. Therefore, he wrote many poems about love, politics and Buddhism which were sometimes interweaved together, but it was a mere cover-up to express euphemistically his deep feelings due to his helplessness and the tense political situation in Tibet. Actually, the essence of the poems was to express his own helplessness and depression by depicting the love of ordinary people, and for this reason there were quite a few scholars and researchers regarding these poems as political lyrics.
