摘要:本文是英语教学论文,鉴于教师提问在课堂教学中的重要作用,本文从课堂互动中的师生互动角度出发,探讨大学外籍教师在口语课堂中的提问特征,以及这种特征对课堂互动的影响。

Referential questions means that teachersdon’thavedefiniteanswers;displayquestionsmeansteachersknowtheanswer,and the answer is definite; and evaluation questions means that students are required togive an evaluation.Long and Sato (1983) divides questions into display questions and referentialquestions, which is widely adopted by many scholars. Display questions refer to thequestions whose answers are definite, which are usually used to check studentscomprehension, understanding and memory, “When did the author go to the office?” or“How old was Anna when her mother died?”, while referential questions are thequestions for which the answer is not already known by the teacher, such as “Whatwould have happened if thers wasn’t a black dead disease in London? ”.

Chapter Five Data Analysis and Discussion

In this chapter, the author will present and discuss the research findings: types ofquestions, the questioning strategies, waiting time, teachers’feedback and distributionof questions of the two foreign teachers in oral English class. What’s more, therelationship between each of these five aspects and classroom interaction is analyzedand discussed.

Chapter Five Data Analysis and DiscussionIn this chapter, the author will present and discuss the research findings: types ofquestions, the questioning strategies, waiting time, teachers’feedback and distributionof questions of the two foreign teachers in oral English class. What’s more, therelationship between each of these five aspects and classroom interaction is analyzedand discussed.5.1The Frequency of Question Types and Classroom InteractionFrom Table 5.1, we can see that 294 questions were asked by two foreign teachersin all the 10 classes. 175 display questions and 119 referential questions were posedrespectively.
