Family is the basic unit in the structure of society. To the international trade market, the families are of much importance, many group purchases in the unit of family. In most rich industrial countries, the form of "nuclear family" is popular. It consists of just the parent and child. However, in poor countries, the "extended family ", which includes several generations, is more common. Again, take the U.S. for example, their family usually have more than one child, their divorce rate is relatively high, the women are much aware of their equal position as the men have, and quite a lot of women are eager to take a job after marriage. This situation is different with China's, so we have to take it into account when making our international business strategies.
 
2.2.5 Environment Differences in Sino-American Cultures
 
Environment refers to the surroundings one lives in. It includes the material life, the education system, the political system, the traditional modes of thoughts and so on. It is said that man is an outcome of the environment. It means that the environment a person lives in will shape him or her in some way. In other words, if a person stays in a certain environment in a relatively long period of time, he may modify himself to some degree. For example, a manager who used to be a professor in a university might appear different from what he used to be because of his long time business career.
 
Many cultural characteristics originally developed help the survival of groups in their environment. For example, many Westerners shake hands with their right hand as a form of greeting. Initially, this was probably an indication that no weapon was being held or about to be drawn with the dominant right hand. Further, people in different climates seem to have different attitudes towards time. For example, the lack of urgency often observed in tropical climates might have originally reflected the lack of seasonality related to agriculture. Because crops can be grown all the year round, there is no need to plant and harvest at certain times and therefore people there pay little attention to deadlines.
  
III. Negative Influences of Cultural Differences between China and America
 
When companies meet business challenges, they must handle those new and unfamiliar troubles. “Recently two of my son were squabbling over some apple pie, each insisting that he should have the large slice. Culture is one of these obstacles and can affect the entire co-operation . Culture can influence the business in different ways: language problems, pricing difficulties and culture collisions are not uncommon, especially at the beginning.
 
3.1 Negative Influences of Sino-American Cultural Differences on Language Communication

Different cultures may cause some negative influences in business. In some cultures, people use implicit words more than others, take China for example, the non-verbal communication is important, especially in visual communication.
