ies are engaged in the scientific research of the ghost sound, ghost image, etc. While inChinathere are many institutions (e.g.ChineseGhostCultureResearchCenter) founded to explore ghost culture and the first Chinese Ghost Culture Seminar was held inShanghaiin1992 to deliberate the ghost culture’s development. It can be seen that ghost is active in both scientific research and cultural research. And the analysis between Chinese and western culture is also very significant among today’s researches.
 
Differences between different cultures are perpetual cultural phenomenon. They originate from the different history background and different ideology of each culture. And the differences come into being under the development of the society. So we should set about getting familiar with the society, the ideology of each culture if we want to unearth the essence of these differences. Religious reason can be the radical reason for the differences. It has an influence on society and ideology. For example, in the early time, western society was ruled by Christianity. Pope had supreme right and Christianity doctrine formed the ideology. Thus religious reason, social reason and ideological reason constitute the three reason that this thesis analysed.
 
The differences analysis and reasons concluded in the thesis reflect not only the different cultures between the countries but also show the different human thoughts in different cultures. We know that Chinese people value harmony and collectivism while westerners value individualism; Chinese uphold authority while westerners think men are equal; Chinese think that man was born to be kind while westerners think that man was born to be evil and that makes China a country which value its citizens’ ethics, makes western countries tend to be more rely on the law to govern its citizens. Therefore, ghost culture reflects the value of different people in different cultures so that it can help to promote the cross-cultural communication.
