摘要:本文是一篇商务英语论文,本研究从四个角度分析了公众对D&G危机传播的评论,以促进中国语境下的跨文化危机传播。首先,分析了德勤根据SCCT采取的危机传播策略。其次,分析了D&G危机传播策略在中国语境下的不同解读。第三,分析公众对本案的建议策略。最后,分析了这些解释背后的文化因素和建议的策略。分析的主要结果将用于回答研究问题。

the practices and the theoretical suggestions of SCCT. Based on the case study in Taiwan, it is found that organizational communication strategies are not completely consistent with SCCT theory. However, few people pay attention to how to promote SCCT theory in the context of China and realize the crisis communication in the Chinese context. Therefore, this research not only testifies SCCT in Chinese context, but also contributes to the crisis communication in Chinese context. 

Methodologically,  various  studies  have  attempted  to  analyze  intercultural  crisis communication by case study, experimental study, or comparative analysis whether crisis management  differs  in  non-western  countries  such  as  China,  Japan  and  India  when compared with the West. Although the research methods have gradually developed from qualitative research such as case discussion to quantitative research based on experiments, new  methods  are  not  fully  used  to  do  further  research  especially  the  application  of information mining and big data in the network environment. Perceptions and responses in specific connection to corporations’ crisis communication responses fail to attract enough research attention it deserves to achieve crisis communication in a given context. Although Zhou and Shin (2017, pp. 1036–1047) divide public reactions into different emotions such as anger, alert, worry, surprise, belief, sympathy, etc., they fail to do a content analysis of public  reactions  to  demonstrate  clearly  the  public  attitudes.  Therefore,  analyses  of comments from different platforms can provide a more in-depth and comprehensive study of crisis communication in Chinese context and promote the crisis communication theory in given contexts. 

CHAPTER TWO LITERATURE REVIEW

2.1 Previous studies on crisis communication

Crisis communication theories, especially situational crisis communication theory (SCCT) have been applied to different crises. SCCT has been the dominant theory in the field of crisis communication. SCCT believes that when an organization has a crisis, it should first classify the crisis and evaluate the variables that may affect reputation before selecting the most appropriate crisis response strategy. Attribution theory (Weiner, 1985) serves as the root of SCCT, which is the degree to which the organization should be responsible for the crisis.  Coombs  tests  the  perception  and  attitude  of  the  audience  after  communication  to determine which communication strategies could most effectively improve the company’s image in each situation. In other words, the key to achieving the best communication results is the match between communication strategy and crisis situation. Based on the situational crisis communication theory, Tang Xuemei and Lai Shengqiang (2017) choose the case of “cancer  teacher  dismissal”  as  the  research  object  and  analyze  the  response  timing  and communication strategies by content analysis to find out the reason why Bowen College failed to respond to the online public opinion.
