1.0 Executive Summary
Tesco is an international company based on United Kingdom which retails many kinds of consumables. It is the third large retailers all over the world and established many supermarkets in several continents. Restraint consuming of consumers make it hard to operate supermarkets; however, Tesco did well in 2008 which could be introduced to others. Nevertheless, it met several declines in 2008 so that it made some changes for improving. In order to improve and empower its strength, the report will submit several viable measures in economics section and marketing section.

The main Objective of this report is to review some resolutions of Tesco in 2008 when financial crisis happened such as change of strategies, decreasing of price and expansion of the scope of business. The report also includes several suggestions for Tesco for the following year which have been created through analyzing its own advantages, weaknesses in both economic sections and marketing sections.

2.0 Corporate Description
Tesco was set up in 1919 and has a long history of nearly 100 years. It was founded by Jack Cohen who sold surplus groceries in the East End of London. After that, Tesco expanded steadily with its main business which is supermarket. Following the pace of globalization, it has opened more and more supermarkets in many countries which help it occupied position of the top three retailer of the world. It has developed a lot in many aspects and became the leading organic retailer in the U.K. in 2001 as well as opening several new stores in the U.S. in 2007 (James Thompson, 2008).

The economic recession came of a sudden left no one to response, neither did Tesco. Tesco was challenged in such bad situation plus unseasonal summer weather in U.K. in 2008. In order to keep the tendency of growing, Tesco adopted several measures to improve and such measures were also the reaction of the influence of financial crisis.The year of 2008 is not a lucky year for most of businessmen. Because subprime lending crisis broke up, many companies have bankrupted while others faced strictly financial crisis. In the area of retailing which is what Tesco operates, some well-known retailers have bankrupted in 2008 which includes MFI, Woolworth, fashion outlets MK One and Ethel Austin and shoe shop Dolcis.
