An analysis of the opportunities and threats for the car manufacturers associated with the enlargement of the European Union
Introduction
After the establishment of European Union (the EU), it has experienced five times of expansion. Compared with the former four expansion of the EU, the expansion of the EU in 2004 was extraordinary. According to a recent survey of the International Trade Forum, when the 10 Eastern Europaon countries joined the EU, the area of the European Union has reached 4.5 million square kilometers; its population has reached 453 million, becoming the world's regional political and economic group which has the highest level of integration, and the world's largest free trade zone. At the same time, it has also become a considerable group of countries whose size of the overall economy is also equal to the United States’, which brings the EU's car manufacturers more business opportunities, but it also gives them some new challenges. This article uses the method of PEST analysis to analyze the opportunities and threats which the EU’s enlargement has brought the EU’s car manufacturers.
