Theoretical analysis and empirical study of TNCs/MNCs and global production networks in international business context

1. Introduction
    Since 1980s, the development of  direct investment enters a new climax, the business activities of transnational corporations appeared the new features. For these new phenomena, the traditional mainstream Western theory is unable or difficult to make a full scientific explanation. In this context, some scholars based on the original traditional mainstream theory by the use of new methodologies and analytical tools supplemented, modified or combined the traditional theory, thus promoting the development of traditional theory (Aitken & Harrison, 1999). At  the same time,some scholars committed to trying new theories, their research are often combined with the specific environment and background, and the limitations of its conclusions are more obvious, but this also provides a new way for direct investment theory.
    Processing trade is a trade pattern in the global production network. The status of the China's processing trade enterprises in the currenthttps://www.51lunwen.org/InternationalBusinessManagement/ production network is generally not high, thus it is much-needed upgrading of processing trade industry. How the processing trade industry to effectively upgrade to a large extent depends on the absorptive capacity of technology spillover effect of foreign direct investment in global production networks. From the perspective of global production networks, this report conducted the empirical studies of foreign direct investment and the influence of other factors on the upgrading of processing trade exports, and gave out the relevant countermeasures.

    In short, the future study of global production networks, especially in economies such as China, the key question should be addressed for the study of global production networks lies in the context of global economic integration, the in-depth analysis of the development motivation, the internal mechanism of the global production system and global production networks. This analysis is placed under the framework of the regional comparison by the interaction of the global production networks with different countries and different industries. Meanwhile, with the help of the interaction between the Chinese specific industry and the global production network, it can explain the impact of the global production network on the related industries in China, and also can make some countermeasures to the relevant industries with the industrial upgrading issues.
