Abstract

      With the increasingly fierce global competition, the competitive potential advantage is so crucial for every corporate. The development of a purchasing strategy focusing on the character of a firm’s competitive strength is conducive to enhance the market position of this firm. Until recently, the supply chain management has been gaining more attention, which is not only in https://www.51lunwen.org/IrelandDissertation/ the academic field but also in the economic field, leading to an increasing understanding of the crucial strategic function of acquisition (procurement). The development and innovation of purchasing strategy and SCM are both considered to be affected by numerous factors, such as institutional environment, culture, etc. In brief, the institutional environment (IE), culture etc., around the world could either improve or impede the ability of supply chain partner-ship establishment, which resulted directly in the operational performance of the entire supply chain. Therefore, the studies about the development of procurement strategy, SCM and those effects on the overall business performance in countries with different institutional environment (IE) culture, etc., have important academic and practical significance. Unfortunately, researches in this area have been very rarely reported.

     This study has adopted comparison method and questionnaires method to study about the effects of different procurement strategies on the overall business performances between Dalian Software Park and Bangalore Software Science and Technology Park (BSSTP). More specifically, 30 purchasing executives from both software parks were selected and investigated by e-mail, respectively. The questionnaires were designed according to Likert scale, including five logic libraries: “Strongly agree; agree; neutral; disagree; strongly disagree”. The overall business performances would be estimated through seven assessment indicators: market share; growth rate of market share; sales growth; return on investment; the growth rate of return on investment; sales profit margin and corporate overall competitive positioning.
