1.1 Description of the Source Text

In this part,it is necessary to introduce the source text including its contents andlinguistic features.Furthermore,the significance of the study will be illustrated inorder to have a clear understanding of the translation report.

1.1.1 Introduction to the Source Text

The original text,Covid-19 and E-commerce:A Global Review,is a reportpublished in the first half of 2021 on the official website of United Nations.Based onkey findings from the study conducted by UNCTAD and eT rade for all partners,thereport is aimed at demonstrating the trend of the e-commerce across the worldaffected by the Covid-19,pointing out the existing challenges and then providingsome recommendations for governments,private sectors and international communityto further their development in e-commerce.

The report consists of four chapters.Chapter one briefly introduces how thepandemic affects the development of e-commerce and puts forward the concept of“digital economy”and several types of e-commerce.The second chapter gives asummary of global and regional trends concerning e-commerce.The third chapterexhibits challenges brought by the Covid-19 and responses by governments,privatesectors and the international development partners from eight aspects,including ICTinfrastructures and services,payments,trade logistics,legal and regulatoryframeworks,etc.As for the last chapter,the author offers some advice to differentparties in terms of e-commerce development.

1.2 Description of the Translation Process
