摘要:本文是一篇初中英语教学论文,通过教师问卷调查、详细访谈和学生成绩收集的总体结果,本研究的主要结论如下:首先,孝感农村中学英语教师的跨文化意识总体处于中等水平,还有改进的余地。具体来说,教师认为语言和文化之间存在着内在联系,他们或多或少都有一定的跨文化意识。
本文是一篇初中英语教学论文,本文从一个新的角度研究了教师的跨文化意识,即农村英语教师的跨文化意识与教学效果的关系。在以往的跨文化意识研究中,一些学者对英语教师的跨文化意识进行了个别研究。也有一些学者从词汇教学、阅读教学或学生口语能力等方面对英语教师的跨文化意识进行了相关研究或影响研究。
Chapter One Introduction
1.1 Background of the Research
1.1.1 Globalization’s Demand for Intercultural Awareness
In the context of globalization, China’s exchanges with countries around the world have become increasingly frequent. In our country, English as a major foreign language is an important tool for us to know the world and communicate with the international community. In the process of communication, people realize that culture plays an increasingly important role. Professor Hu Wenzhong (1995) pointed out that “learning only language materials, do not understand the cultural background, just like grasping the shell without understanding its spirit. In fact, language is a part of culture and also a carrier of culture. Language and culture are inseparable.” Therefore, language learning is inseparable from culture, and the ultimate goal of language learning is communication, which involves intercultural awareness. Song Jihong (2008) believes that in the process of international exchanges, we need to face some cultural problems: different customs, different standards of conduct, different languages, different values, different religious beliefs, different taboos and so on will become obstacles to our communication with the outside world. To overcome these obstacles, certain intercultural awareness is needed. Intercultural awareness has become an inevitable choice to cope with globalization. Therefore, it requires English teachers in the new era to become not only the recipients of language knowledge, but also the penetrators of intercultural awareness.
1.2 Purposes and Significance of the Research
1.2.1 Purposes of the Research
There are three purposes of this study. First, the researchers want to understand the current situation of intercultural awareness of middle school English teachers. Secondly, through SPSS data analysis, researchers can understand the correlation between teachers’ intercultural awareness and teaching effect. Finally, the researchers make specific suggestions on how to improve the intercultural awareness of middle school English teachers and optimize the intercultural teaching effect, so as to promote the development of middle school English teaching.
