本文是一篇初中英语教学论文,本文通过对理想二语自我与英语学习成绩的相关性调查,我们发现理想二语自我与英语学习成绩呈显著正相关,这表明提高理想二语自我水平对提高外语成绩有显著影响。

1.1 Research Background

Foreign language teaching has always focused on the transfer of knowledge andskills,rather than the cultivation of emotional factors.In the field of second languageacquisition,the learners decided which language to learn and how much effort theyput in,all of which were determined by varying degrees of motivation.Motivationmotivated students’learning behavior and played a driving role in learning.Dörnyei(2005),an expert in the field of second language acquisition,depicted this traditionalview,the influential theory of second language acquisition was linked to the theoriesof“self-discrepancy”and“possible self”,and creatively proposed Second LanguageMotivational Self-system(L2MSS theory).The second language motivationalself-system is the result of a person’s desire to narrow the difference among ideal self,actual self and true self,that is,the image of what kind of person wants to be and theactual self of a person.The theory consists of three parts,namely“ideal secondlanguage self”,“ought-to second language self”,and“second language learningexperience”.Since the theory of second language motivational self-system was moreconvincing in motivating English learning,there was also a lot of research around thistheory.

Another factor that plays an important role in the acquisition of second languagesis foreign language anxiety,which is also the focus of many scholars’research.Arnold(2005)emphasized that anxiety in the process of learning a foreign language was oneof the important factors affecting learners’emotions;Zhang Risheng et al.(2004)proposed that anxiety about foreign languages was one of the important factors that limited the learning efficiency of foreign languages for learners.Therefore,foreignlanguage anxiety played an important role in improving the efficiency of languagelearning.However,in the course of foreign language education,most educatorstended to pay more attention to the learner’s intellectual factors and often ignored thelearner’s emotional factors.Foreign language anxiety,as an important emotionalfactor,was often easily ignored by educators.If the student’s English score has notbeen high,the teacher will always let the student do more practice,but the Englishlevel is still not improved.It makes the student begin to doubt themselves,followedby foreign language anxiety,resulting in no improvement or even decrease in grades,and then the sense of anxiety becomes stronger,forming a vicious circle.Therefore,inthe teaching and research of second language acquisition,full attention should be paidto foreign language anxiety.

1.2 Research Purpose
