ABSTRACT

This dissertation reviews a series of urban design theories and generalizes the basic issues of urban design. A checklist of considerations which should be taken into account has been made to assess the case study of Yuyao– a mid-sized Chinese city. By researching the CBD of Yuyao, the findings related to urban design have been made, which includes both successes and weaknesses. Finally, recommendations have been given towards the weaknesses of Yuyao’s CBD development.
