Vocabulary teaching has become the main basis of selection of language curriculumand a variety of language examination syllabus and assessment of objectives,propositions concerned. For instance, in CET exams, difficulty of reading partbasically attributes to weak vocabulary, as candidates with poor vocabulary level cannot accurately interpret content of what is written, which is the major cause of losingpoints. The writing part reflects that most candidates have poor ability to useappropriate vocabulary and can not express their own ideas appropriately.Thus, vocabulary learning and teaching occupies an important position in entireCollege English Teaching which is an important link in language teaching andlearning.Even worse, in the actual teaching, quite a few instructors tend to focus toomuch on grammar and sentence explanation and drills and other aspects of language,but word learning, say, recitation of words after class is thought to be the students'own thing, which results in a weak link. Learners lack vocabulary knowledge. Theycan neither memorize words inefficiently, nor can they understand etymology ofwords, their connection among words, so the basic meanings of even common wordscan not be mastered accurately and completely, and understood if occasion orcollocation is changed.
