摘要:海外英语词汇教学研究涵盖了广泛的观点,并为中国的教师在词汇教学中隐含着一定的指导意义。英语作为第二语言都有自己的特长,尤其是在中国英语学习者的词汇教学问题,但是,它仍然是一个必须要利用国外学者的成果仅供参考,做进一步的研究,中国的语言背景的基础上不管它是词汇还是没有问题的。

Chapter One: Literature Review


开始时的博士论文,阐述和证明,以应用理论的可行性,它是最必要的,扼要地做一个粗略的检讨目前的情况下,中国大学生英语词汇教学和教学研究的往昔,而在国内和国外,认知语言学与隐喻概念,包括其相关图片模式理论,原型理论,隐喻和转喻机制等等相关理论,以及如何申请那些近期语言学理论研究。At the start of the dissertation, in order to expound and prove feasibility in thetheories to be applied, it is most requisite to concisely make a rough review of currentsituations in Chinese College English vocabulary teaching and pedagogical researcheserstwhile at home and abroad, theories pertinent to cognitive linguistics andconceptual metaphor including its related image schema theory, prototypical theory,and metaphorical and metonymical mechanism and so forth, and how-to of applyingthose recent linguistic theories into the study.


1.1 Current Situations in Chinese College English Vocabulary

During Englishlearning, without vocabulary it is hard to communicate with others and it isimpossible to better language productive skills and receptive skills like listening,speaking, reading, and writing. But, it is far from satisfactory that although mucheffort has been exerted and much achievement has been made for vocabularyregularity and memorization, underlying regularity of lexis and problem solvingmethod for low efficiency in lexis teaching have still been in the process ofexploration and adjustment.


1.1.1 Current Situations and Problems with Chinese College English Vocabulary Teaching
Apart from academic requirements, nation-building and personal developmentmake students' English level and the level of vocabulary that in a way reflects level ofEnglish increasingly important, with this country's reform and opening up further. Vocabulary teaching has become the main basis of selection of language curriculumand a variety of language examination syllabus and assessment of objectives,propositions concerned. For instance, in CET exams, difficulty of reading partbasically attributes to weak vocabulary, as candidates with poor vocabulary level cannot accurately interpret content of what is written, which is the major cause of losingpoints. The writing part reflects that most candidates have poor ability to useappropriate vocabulary and can not express their own ideas appropriately.Thus, vocabulary learning and teaching occupies an important position in entireCollege English Teaching which is an important link in language teaching andlearning.Even worse, in the actual teaching, quite a few instructors tend to focus toomuch on grammar and sentence explanation and drills and other aspects of language,but word learning, say, recitation of words after class is thought to be the students'own thing, which results in a weak link. Learners lack vocabulary knowledge. Theycan neither memorize words inefficiently, nor can they understand etymology ofwords, their connection among words, so the basic meanings of even common wordscan not be mastered accurately and completely, and understood if occasion orcollocation is changed.
