1. Introduction 

1.1 Research Background 
George  Orwell  (1903-1950), formerly  known as  Eric Arthur  Blair,  is  a  famous  British novelist  and  thinker.  He  has  been  rated  as  ―one  of  the  most  influential  writers  in  the  20th century. He created a great number of novels and essays in his short life. Most of his works were  set  in  the  1930s-1940s  to  depict  a  variety  of  oppressed  phenomena  to  perform  the miserable  life  of  the  ruled  class  under  the  totalitarian  governance.  One  of  the  most  famous works  was  Animal  Farm.  This  classic  novel  was  top  31  in  the  list  of  ―One  hundred outstanding  English  novels  in  the  twentieth  century.  Animal  Farm  is  a  political  fable.  It vividly  reproduces  Soviet  domestic  political  climate  and  some  important  political  events during  the  reign  of  Stalin  to  many  Westerners.  Once  published,  the  book  was  extremely popular. It brought great reputation and economic benefits to George Orwell. Orwell’s  fable  story,  Animal  Farm,  was  published  in  1945.  It  described  an  animal revolution  brewing,  rising,  and  disintegrating.  Animals  in  a  farm  which  was  named  Manor Farm could not stand the brutal oppression  from humans, rebelled against humans under the leadership  of  pigs,  and  then  got  rid  of  the farm  master——Mr.  Jones.  Finally,  they  achieved the  ambition  of  ―self-determination,  and  tasted  the  joy  of  the  revolution.  The  Farm  was renamed  ―Animal  Farm.  Animals  made  the  constitution  of  Manor——―Seven Commandments, which pursued the rule——―All Animals Are Equal. However, soon after the pigs who led the revolution split. The pig named Snowball was announced as the enemy of the revolution. Since then, another pig named Napoleon got the leadership of the Farm, and became  the  new  privileged  class.  He  gradually  had  more  and  more  rights  and  got  much special treat, moving away from other animals. Once a little dissatisfied, they would be killed. The  rule  of  the  Animal  Farm  was  revised  into  ―some  animals  are  more  equal  than  other animals.  Napoleon  eventually  became  an  exploiter  who  was  the  same  as  human beings.  The name of Animal Farm was also abandoned, the animals’ life were back to the previous state.
