2.2 Theoretical Foundations of the Present Study

The  two  theoretical  frameworks  guiding  this  study,  which  were  core competences  theory  and  English  subject  core  competences  theory  originating  from international  education  and  international  studies  and  schema  theory.  By  the  way,  in English literature we have expressions of core competencies or key competencies for the term.

2.2.1. Core Competencies Theory

Zhu  Hongqi(2016)  holds  that  if  we  want  to  understand  the  concept  of  core competencies and grasp the essence of core competencies, we need to pay attention to the  following  points:  the  first  point  that  core  competencies  is  key  competencies,  not comprehensive  competencies;  the  second  point  that  the  core  competencies  have  to reflect  individual  needs,  and  more  importantly,  which  must  reflect  social  needs;  the third  point  that  core  competencies  is  high-level  competencies,  not  low-level competencies,  or  even  basic  competencies;  the  last  point  that  the  core  competencies must  reflect  the  requirements  of  globalization,  and  more  importantly,  reflect  the requirements of localization.
