Skopos Theory emerged in the late 1970s.And since then,widespread influences havebeen produced.Correspondingly,heated debates on it both at home and abroad have beenthen triggered.

Throughout the researches on Skopos Theory abroad,we can see that more effort is putinto three aspects:its application,text analysis,and translation evaluation.Calvo(2018)discussed the application of Skopos Theory in the professional translation market andexplored some relation between functionalist concepts and the normalization instruments intranslation industry.By the analysis of the translation on political speeches with functionalequivalence theory and Skopos Theory as a guidance,Mbenzi(2017)proved that acombination of multiple theories can help translators produce a good translation.Abdelaal(2019)argues that Skopos Theory is feasible for translators to quickly determine how totranslate.In his paper,he found that,if guided by Skopos Theory,the translation of HolyQuran should take the conveyance of the primary meaning of the source text as its toppriority.In comparison,its stylistic features pales.Through studying the strategies in a seriesof bilingual storybooks for children,by the means of the microstructural analysis,Noerjanah(2017)points out that Skopos Theory is very suitable to guide the translation of such kind ofbooks.

Just as mentioned earlier,Skopos Theory has emerged in German since the 1970s.However,there were just sporadic introductions of this theory in China after the reform andopening up.Until the mid-1990s,researches on this theory increased in a systematic andextensive way at home and abroad.In recent years,domestic researches on Skopos Theoryconcentrate on its application,translation strategies and methods of all kinds of types of textsguided by this theory(Zhang,2021:4).Roughly,there are two types of texts:literary textsand non-literary texts.

2.2 Introduction to Skopos Theory

Since the middle of the 20th century,translatology has been studied from theperspectives of hermeneutics,reception aesthetics,structuralism and target audienceresponse.Afterwards,some influential translation theories came into being.Among them,Skopos Theory stands out most for opening a new dimension for translation practice andresearch(Wang&Chen,2017:102).In short,Skopos Theory has been constantly enrichedand improved by the four key figures.
