As Atwood hasbecome so famous in China in recent years, some of her early works such as The EdibleWoman, The Handmaid’s Tale and The Blind Assassin which has won the Booker Prize havebeen studied deeply and comprehensively. With regard to Alias Grace, which has also beenfocused by the public, there are several theses in CNKI which interpret Alias Grace fromdifferent perspectives in China. Although the research on Alias Grace is not comprehensiveand profound, the perspective of feminism is quite rich.

Guo Yingjian analyzes Alias Grace both from feminism and Atwood’s narrativeapproach in Asking Women’s Living Conditions: on Margaret Atwood’s New Work Alias Grace.She argues that all of Atwood’s writings concern about the living condition of women. Thelack of Grace’s discourse power leads to thinking about the value of human individual life,particularly to women. The lack of male characters in the novel, as well as the narrativelanguage and narrative style all show the resistance to society in Atwood’s feminist thoughts.In the novel, the lines reveal reflections on life and irony on women’s living conditions (GuoYingjian, 2000).

Nature hasalways been in an oppressed situation like women. Ecofeminist criticism combines womenproblems and nature problems. French feminist Francoised' Eaubonne firstly proposes“ecofeminism” when she calls on women to participate in the work of saving the planet in LeFeminisme ou la mort. The purpose of her terminology is to call on women to lead anecological revolution that saves the planet and to establish a new type of relationship betweenmen and nature, men and women. She also pointes out that “the oppression of women isdirectly related to the oppression of nature” (Eaubonne, 1974).
