Language  ability  is  mostly  cultivated  in  terms  of  language  knowledge  and students are given less practice in language skills. English teachers focus more on the development  of  students’  language  knowledge  in  the  reading  classroom.  This  is evident that most of the time spent in the reading classroom is dominated by the input of  language  knowledge,  with  little  actual  language  skills  training  for  students. Homework  is  mostly  based  on  the  memory  of  language  knowledge,  such  as remembering words, phrases and sentences. 

In  the  development  of  cultural  awareness,  teachers  are  able  to  realize  the importance  of  cultural  awareness.  They  can  activate  students’ interest in learning to read through cultural and emotional experiences. Teachers often introduce and explain the cultural background knowledge through text, spoken word, pictures or images in the pre-reading and post-reading stage.
