本文是一篇高中英语教学论文,本文通过材料分析,收集和整理了学生英语作文中的各种错误,并对学生写作错误的类型进行了分类和分析;通过访谈和问卷调查,分别从教师和学生两个层面分析了错误产生的原因,并针对性地提出了避免高中英语写作错误的对策和建议。

1.1 Research Background

1.1.1 The Importance of Writing in Second Language Teaching

It is well known that the four basic skills in foreign language teaching are very important. However, compared with other skills, “writing” is relatively difficult for students and needs to be improved. Writing is not only a direct reflection of a person’s knowledge storage and thinking competence, but a concentrated embodiment of other skills. It represents the flexible use of the knowledge students learn from books. What’s more, the status of English writing is also extraordinary and vital in college entrance examination. Taking the national paper of the new curriculum standard as an example, writing accounts for 25 points out of a full score of 150 in the English college entrance examination, which shows that writing teaching is very important. The author finds that many problems such as many errors and low scores in English composition in senior school make the current status of English writing teaching in senior school not optimistic, and English writing is both a difficult and weak point in English learning.

The General Senior High School English Curriculum Standard (2020 Revision) puts forward the concept of “subject core literacy”. On the basis of the previous emphasis on training students’ basic language skills (writing, listening, reading skills, etc.), learners’ “learning ability” has been raised to a certain level, which emphasizes in the teaching process teachers should cultivate the students’ learning ability as the key task. Therefore, it is crucial to cultivate students’ writing ability. 

1.2 Research Significance

Through the combination of text analysis of students’ compositions, questionnaires and interviews, this paper identifies the errors of students’ writing, summarizes and analyzes their error types, and explores the causes of various types of errors and proposes solution strategies according to the specific causes, thus verifying the guiding nature and effectiveness of Error Analysis Theory in writing, enriching the theoretical study of “errors”, and enriching the relevant teaching research guided by Error Analysis Theory.

1.2.2 Practical Significance

First of all, for teachers of English, under the guidance of Error Analysis Theory research, the research results of this paper can make writing teaching more targeted. Secondly, for students, error analysis can verify whether the second language rules they understand are correct or not. Learn from the errors, make progress and improve the interest in English writing. In addition, error analysis is of great importance for the development of teaching theory by understanding learners’ target language learning.
