摘要:本文是一篇高中英语教学论文,本研究旨在检验PBL教学模式在高中英语阅读教学中的有效性。在此过程中,研究者探索了PBL教学模式的相关理论和思想。基于以往的研究结果,我们假设PBL不仅有利于提高学生的英语阅读动机和阅读能力,而且有利于提高他们的思维质量。

本文是一篇高中英语教学论文,本研究结果表明,在英语阅读教学中应用PBL教学模式可以有效地提高学生的阅读动机、阅读能力和思维质量。

Chapter One Introduction

1.1 Research background

It is widely acknowledged that reading is one of the most important approachesto acquiring knowledge and develop abilities in our life,which is conducive tocollecting information,understanding the world,developing thinking and gainingaesthetic experience.Reading plays a crucial role in all stages of language learning(Oczkus,2014).The development of students’perception,comprehension andevaluation ability is directly influenced by the teacher’s interpretation of the text andstudents’perception of the text during the reading teaching.

However,looking back to the current situation of senior high school Englishreading teaching,there are some serious problems.Firstly,traditional Englishclassroom teaching is still prevalent,where the teacher mainly teaches knowledgeand students passively receive it and then consolidate it through mechanical drills.Jiang Shuncheng(2015)considers that most of the time in English reading classroomis in the hands of teachers,and students are experiencing passive learning.Students’learning motivation and independent learning capability are not fully cultivated.They lack awareness of problems and their ability of discovering and solvingproblems is relatively weak.Secondly,English reading mainly focuses on translationand explanation of language knowledge,fails to dig deeply into the inner meaning ofthe text,and neglects the cultivation of students’comprehensive ability.Last but notleast,English reading tasks are limited to the processing of the superficialinformation of the text.And the students are lack of the training of deep understanding because there are few logical tasks to develop students’innovativeability and critical thinking ability,and some teachers pay more attention to the formrather than to the meaning when designing the tasks.

1.2 Purposes and significance of the study

In view of the above situations,the present study aims to examine theeffectiveness of applying PBL teaching model in senior high school English readingteaching,trying to address the following questions:

(1)To what extent can the application of PBL teaching model in senior highschool English reading classes help to stimulate students’reading motivation?

(2)To what extent can the application of PBL teaching model in senior highschool English reading classes help to improve students’reading ability?

(3)To what extent can the application of PBL teaching model in senior highschool English reading classes help to develop students’thinking quality?

It is hoped that the present study can be a complement to the previous researchin this field,and provide some insights and implications for senior high school English reading teaching.In a sense,it is of some theoretical and practicalsignificance.

Chapter Two Literature Review

2.1 Definitions and characteristics of PBL
