The objective of this part is to demonstrate your understanding of what you have done and the meaning of what you have done. You must be able to be self-critical about your work on the graduating project, focussing on your strengths and weaknesses, the specificities and the implications or possible generalisations. It must also demonstrate that the student has understood and integrated the courses he/she received during the MSc course.

II.7 – LIMITATIONS

No-one is able to produce a perfect project in a limited time. There will always be questions that you have not answered, and it is better this way. It shows that your research is worth developing deeper. The same is true of employment or a mission in a company; there will always be further tasks worth doing.

These ideas of further work are born, for example, during a comparative study of the objectives you fixed and the objectives reached, unplanned developments that appeared during the writing of your graduating project, or “unusual” results which seem difficult to explain or to justify and which merit further research.

During the analysis of the results phase, you will find that many questions are raised. For example, you have made a study of a particular age group. So in your discussion, you recognise the fact that your results are only applicable to the age group in question.
In this section, you can suggest that if you had had more time or greater means, the study or the graduating project could have been widened to other groups. Therefore, in your final chapter, clearly explain the limitations of your project.

II.8– CONFIDENTIALITY

Note that ESC Rennes and the MSc respect the request of confidentiality by companies, in terms of results obtained, but note that is equally not always possible to include the confidential results themselves in the report. The nature and methods in which they were obtained are often more useful in modelling the solutions. The process, the methods are more interesting than the results obtained on market share or a financial result, for example. What is important is that over and above the figure itself, is whether that figure was expected or not, and if not, why not, if it is viable and realistic, what main trends can be concluded.

If you cannot do otherwise than use confidential information, you must mention this in an ESC pre-printed page (page following the title) that confidentiality is requested for a limited and realistic number of years. In this case, the results of your work will not be published or available for publication. Your graduating project will be stored in a non-accessible room. A confidentiality agreement can also be signed by the persons concerned by your graduating project: you, the MSc Programme Manager, and your graduating project supervisor.

III – FORM AND STRUCTURE
 

III.1 – Form
You must hand in 3 paper copies and an electronic copy

III.1.1 – Size of paper and printing

The graduating project must be submitted in triplicate, printed on good quality A4-format paper. The typeface will be in a font with a minimum size of 12 and only on one side of the sheet, with an interline of 1.5.
