摘要:英语教学与写作教学的更高的要求,但现状依然堪忧。有现实与目标之间的距离远。通过调查,目前的状况是表现在三个方面。

Chapter 1 Introduction

Meanwhile, writing is also themost difficult part in the English learning for students and in the English teaching forteachers. A teacher called Xiao Fujian (2007), who takes up the research of Englishwriting teaching for a very long time, ever said “He who knows the art of writing caneverywhere make a good living." Besides, according to the requirement of NewCurriculum Standard (2007), writing is put in a nonegligible place. Indeed, suffice toshow that English writing plays an extremely important role in English teaching andlearning of senior high school. However, the current situation of English writing is lessthan satisfactory. And students and teachers do not pay enough attention to Englishwriting. On one hand, some students are reluctant to write English compositionsbecause of the difficulty in writing skills and ways or the weakness in Englishknowledge points. On the other hand, there are all kinds of errors in Englishcompositions. These errors can reflect students" learning difficulties, which can be agood channel to improve English writing teaching by analyzing and researching theseerrors combining language acquisition theories or others and scientific researchmethods.


1.1 The attitude towards errors

1.1.1 The attitude towards human error
As for human error, much effort has gone into proving the uniqueness of languageto humans: and the humans, wisdom is the consequence of their gift of language.Linguistics is, by this fact, the direct study of humankind, and should be the mosthumanistic of all disciplines. Error is likewise unique to humans, who are not only is toerr human, but there is none other than human error: animals and artifacts do notcommit errors. And if to err and to speak are each uniquely human, then to err atspeaking, or to commit language errors, must mark the very peak of human uniqueness.Thus, it is not hard to see that a language error as an unsuccessful bit of language.Imprecise though it sounds, this will suffice for the time being. (James, 2003:1)


1.1.2 The attitude towards student error
Thus, the right attitude ought to be, on students' error in the English learning:Firstly, language teachers have a tolerant attitude, which means teachers shouldconsider students' error as reasonable and unavoidable in the certain phase.
