摘要:本文是一篇高中英语论文,根据问卷调查、课堂观察和访谈的结果,本研究的主要发现如下:高中生在英语阅读中使用批判性阅读策略的现状不容乐观:学生使用预习和预测策略、推理策略、自我调节策略的频率,注释策略和分析策略处于中等水平。学生对总结策略、提问策略和评价策略的使用频率较低。
Chapter Two Literature Review
2.1 Definitions of Key Terms
Reading is an activity involving active thinking. When it comes to critical reading, it is inevitable to have a clear concept of critical thinking because readers are certain to use critical thinking while conducting critical reading. So, the author starts from the concept of critical thinking and then reviews studies on critical reading and its strategies.
2.1.1 Critical Thinking
Critical thinking is too abstract and complex to define. From the investigation of etymology, the word “critical” is derived from two Greek roots, one is kriticos and the other is criterion. The former indicates the ability to evaluate and judge while the latter represents a standard of judgement. The origin of critical thinking can date to Socratic Questioning. Its substantial characteristic is to question the common belief and opinion for the purpose of figuring out which lacks evidence and reasonable basis. The Socratic Law puts emphasis on the clarity and consistency of thinking. According to it, many researchers give different definitions on critical thinking which mainly from three perspectives: philosophy, psychology and education.
During the time of Socrates, critical thinking has closely been associated with philosophy. Many scholars define critical thinking from philosophical perspective. Great emphasis is put on the logic and reason of critical thinkers and the perfection of thought is equally stressed.
