摘要:本文是一篇高中英语论文,笔者认为高中生在英语阅读中运用阅读策略的频率处于中等水平。首先,学生缺乏阅读目标和阅读热情。大多数学生读书只是为了通过考试或在英语考试中取得好成绩。其次,学生缺乏使用阅读策略的意识。大多数学生更注重单词含义的识别、结构分析、难句的翻译、语法记忆、追求正确的阅读理解率等,而对阅读策略的使用关注较少。最后,学生在阅读中深受语法翻译方法的影响。他们习惯于逐字理解文章,不把文章看作一个整体,而是作为知识点的载体,无法摆脱母语对英语阅读的干扰。

本文是一篇高中英语论文,本研究表明,学生的阅读策略应用与阅读水平呈正相关,其中总体策略与阅读水平的相关性最高。这表明,学生的英语阅读水平越高,他们使用阅读策略的频率越高,学生良好的阅读习惯,如计划、监控和评估他们的阅读过程,将对学生的阅读水平产生正向迁移效应。
Chapter One Introduction

1.1 Background of the Study

English is the most widely used language in the world and is highly valued bycountries all over the world. English reading can not only help students acquireknowledge, expand their horizons, but also develop the students’ international vision.Besides, the proper use of reading strategies can improve students’ readingproficiency.

English Curriculum Standards for General High School (2017 Edition) requiresthat readers are no longer passively accepting the information given in the article, butconstantly adjusting their reading motivation, choosing appropriate reading strategiesand summarizing their own views in the process of reading. Therefore, the importanceof cultivating senior high school students’ English reading strategies is obvious.

However, from the current situation of high school students’ English readingstrategies application, students pay more attention to recognizing the meaning ofwords and phrases, but less attention has been paid to the use of reading strategies.Moreover, the internal differences of students’ reading proficiency are great, and thedevelopment of students’ reading proficiency is not balanced.

To sum up, it is of great practical significance to explore the influence of readingstrategies on senior high school students’ English reading proficiency, and theproficiency mentioned in this thesis mainly refers to students’ English readingproficiency.

1.2 Objectives of the Study

This study takes 172 students in grade one in Nanning No.1 Middle school as theresearch subjects, utilizing questionnaire, test and interview to investigate studentsfrom the perspectives of the current situation of the application of English readingstrategies, the correlation between the use of reading strategies and their readingproficiency, and the differences in the choice of reading strategies between skillfuland struggling learners, so as to make clear of the specific effects of reading strategieson the reading proficiency. After analysis, this study tries to put forward some implications for the teaching and learning of high school English reading strategies,thus helping students improve their English reading proficiency morecomprehensively.

2.1 Reading Strategies

2.1.1 Definitions of Reading Strategies

Reading strategy is based on the allied research of psycholinguistics, cognitivelinguistics, second language acquisition and other theories, and it is also an importantpart of the learning strategy. The academic world has not yet reached a unified viewon how to define reading strategies. In the middle and late 1970s, the researchersabroad devoted themselves to studying second language reading. Some foreignscholars define reading strategies as some methods and behaviors adopted by readersto enable them to better interact with texts. In 1982, Langer regarded reading strategyas a static, passive skill or means that could be employed by readers.
