摘要:本文是一篇高中英语论文,本研究将Suggestopedia应用于高中英语阅读教学,以确定Suggestop是否能改变学生对英语阅读学习的态度,提高学生的英语阅读理解能力。

guage teachers can create natural and real learning environment with the application ofSuggestopedia’s strategies,so that students’unconscious learning behaviors can be stimulatedand their learning efficiency and language using ability can be improved.Therefore,it can beseen that the application of Suggestopedia to English reading teaching in senior high school isa practice of the psychological theory and the acquisition-learning hypothesis.

Chapter Two Literature Review

2.1 Introduction to Suggestopedia

When it comes to Suggestopedia,it is inevitable to talk about the definition of suggestion.Psychologically,suggestion referred to the use of words,gestures,facial expressions and soon to exert psychological influence on human so that they could accept certain opinions or didcertain things unconsciously.For example,hypnosis was an activity with the help ofsuggestion(Dun Zuchun,1999).In the field of education,the dictionary of education pointedout the definition of suggestion was that it affected learners’psychology in some hidden ways(Harper Donald,1989).Teachers who were good at using suggestion would suggest studentsin different ways,reduce negative effects,and encourage students to study and live actively(Liao Shen,2003;Li Zhihou,2003).In the 1950s,Georgi Lozanov researched suggestionmainly in the field of medicine,psychotherapy,and parapsychology in Sofia.Suggestionresearched in this field had been known as Suggestology(Harper Donald,1989).Suggestology was the scientific study of suggestion and its effect on human behavior.It was ascience concerned with the systemic study of non-conscious influence that humans wereresponding to(Harper Donald,1989).

In the 1960s,Lozanov began to apply the principles of Suggestology to learning process.With a group of scholars,he created a different teaching method,which was named as Suggestopedia(Wang Minqin,1994).Lozanov defined Suggestopedia as creating highlearning motivation,establishing psychological trend to stimulate personal potentials,combining all kinds of unconsciousness in the process of learning and communication fromthe perspective that students were complete individuals(1966).Wilkins J.Bancroft(1995)argued that the application of strategies of Suggestopedia in class could enhance students’learning performance.And the strategies of Suggestopedia should be applied according to theprinciples of Suggestopedia(Zeng Xinyue&Zhang Li,2004).

2.2 Previous Studies on English Reading Instruction Abroad andat Home

Previous studies on English reading instruction abroad and at home were presented bythe author as follows:

2.2.1 Previous Studies on English Reading Instruction Abroad

Some foreign researchers have devoted themselves to optimizing English readinginstruction(Zhang Changjie,2016).In the 1960s,researchers put forward three readingmodels based on the former reading studies,including the bottom-up model,the top-downmodel and the interactive model.

The first model was the bottom-up model.This model argued that the readerscomprehended the reading materials from the smallest units to the largest units,that is,readers comprehended the materials from letters,words,to sentences(Philip Gough,1967).This model was also known as passive decoding process.
