本文是一篇高中英语论文,本研究验证了Suggestopedia在高中英语阅读教学中的有效性。然而,仍然存在一些限制。首先,整个实验周期不长,只持续了三个月。因此,研究的说服力和可靠性可能会降低。如果实验持续时间更长,建议语在高中英语阅读教学中的应用效果将更加明显。其次,实验的研究对象不够,只有112名学生参加了教学实验。此外,实验的研究对象仅为禹州市第四高级中学新生的一小部分。
Chapter One Introduction
1.1 Research Background
It is generally acknowledged that English reading ability is one of the most significantabilities that need to be grasped by English learners.As a significant part of English learning,English reading is a process of extracting meaning from the text(Harper Donald,1989).Consequently,having a good command of English reading ability can facilitate Englishlearning process.Moreover,the newly-published General Senior High School CurriculumStandards:English(2017 Edition Revised 2020)put forward new demands for senior highschool students’English reading learning:students should set up correct reading concept andbe interested in English learning.After learning,students should be able to obtain and analyzeinformation and use what they have read to express their intentions and opinions.
However,scholars have found that there is a gap between the requirement and the reality.On the one hand,the traditional 3P English reading teaching method does not fully emphasizestudents interest in English(Wang Lifei,2001).The standard pattern of traditional Englishreading teaching is:teacher presents the text→students find out the main idea of the text→teacher explains unfamiliar vocabularies and phrases→students take notes and recite notes→teacher draws a conclusion.Such English reading teaching method may make studentseasily deem that English reading is tantamount to vocabularies learning,which may beunfavorable for the cultivation of students interest in English reading learning.
1.2 Research Significance
The study of the application of Suggestopedia to senior high school English readingteaching has theoretical and practical significance.
Theoretically speaking,the study has expanded the radiation of the psychological theoryand the acquisition-learning hypothesis.Firstly,the psychological theory holds that people’ssuggestibility exists and learners’learning efficiency will be improved if they are influencedby positive suggestion,so it advocates teachers should apply positive suggestion to improvestudents’learning performances(Li Zhihou,2003:71-75).And it argues that the coordinationof the left and right brain can enhance students’learning efficiency(Jia Guanjie,2007:87-99),therefore,it emphasizes developing the potential of right brain which is usually overlooked byteachers,so that the left and right brain can cooperate with each other.Suggestopediaadvocates that suggestion strategies should be applied in the teaching process so that learners’ left and right brain can cooperate with each other and efficient learning can be achieved.
