5.1 Comparison of Pre-test and Post-test

For the sake of testing the effect of taking advantage of mind mapping in the English vocabulary experiment, this study conducted two tests on students in two classes. One test is the entrance test for freshmen at the beginning of the semester. The aim is to seek out the current learning level of students before the experiment. Another test is the final exam, which aims to test whether the students' performance and test scores improve as expected after a semester of teaching experiment.

The two tests were arranged as follows: at the beginning of the semester, the school organized a test for senior-one students. The English test paper contains the lexical part, the scope of which is the usage and collocation of 250 core words in junior high school provided by the school. Thus, the pre-test used the results of the mentioned exam above. Specifically, it referred to the results of the lexical part, and the post-test used the results of the same part in the final exam of this semester. You can find it in Appendix II. The test paper for the pre-test was designed by English teachers from the grade one English teacher group. There are eight teachers, four of whom have been teaching for more than 20 years, and four of whom are well-qualified and excellent teachers. The test paper of the post-test was the joint test in Nanchang city. The answers to the two research questions in current study can be offered on account of the contrast and analysis of the marks of 10 dictation and two tests.

6.1Major Findings
