1. Introduction
Love is an eternal topic in ancient and modern literature both at home and abroad, while poetry, with its expressiveness and elegance, has been almost the best way to express love in the past thousands of years. Owing to different cultures and customs between China and Britain, there are a great number of differences in structure and content between the Chinese and the English love poems. However, while reading and appreciating the beautiful ancient Chinese and English love poems, people tend to find a lot of similarities between them. These representative poems, with distinctive similarities, are the most popular and most frequently quoted ones. Therefore, this paper analyzes each similarity in detail. In the ancient Chinese and English love poems, apart from the similarities on beauty of sound, there are many other similar ways used in expressing love.

2. Similarities in Beauty of Sound

In all the literature works, the language of poems is the most elegant and beautiful. Its beauty of sound makes many people in fatuated with them. The love poems often express the poets’ or readers’ sweet or depressed feelings so that people reading the love poems are more emotional. Thus , the beauty of sound is one of the similarities between the ancient Chinese and English love poems and is embodied by rhythm and rhyme.

2.1 Rhythm Similarity

Different languages express rhythm in different ways .Rhythm can not only make the poems beautiful, but also strengthen the power of expression in the poems. Chinese love poems emphasize Ping平 and Ze仄（Chinese has four sounds — the first sound “ī”, the second sound “í”, the third sound “ǐ”and the fourth sound “ì”. We call the first and the second sounds Ping and call the third and the fourth ones Ze）.For example, the Chinese poem Love Seeds《相思》，by Wang Wei(701-761) shows it.

of Ping and Ze makes the poem read rhythmically.“In English poems, the rhythm is created through the use of stress, alternating between unstressed and stressed syllables. An English unstressed syllable is equivalent to a classical short syllable, while an English stressed syllable is equivalent to a classical long syllable. If a pair of syllables are arranged in a short syllable followed by a long one, or an unstressed syllable followed by stressed one , that pattern is said to be 'iambic'. “ Iambic pentameter”, then, is a line made up of five pairs of short—long, or unstressed—stressed syllables.
