Introduction
 
This essay is the describing about the methodology and data collection for my research. The methodology applied is questionnaires and deep interview to the manager of one company in China. The case study of two companies be applied to the analysis of their IT technology application to find out the answer of the question ‘If IT does matter in the business environment’ mainly through second data from the online resources of the annual report.

Choice of research design:

There are three major research design traditions what are “Case Study”, “Survey” and “Experiment”. In my dissertation, the methodology of case study and survey method will be used for the research design. 本论文英语论文网www.51lunwen.org整理提供For the survey methodology, the questionnaires and interview questions will be designed for the collection of the primary data.

Methodology of case study is designed in this research to compare two companies. This article uses the qualitative methods to do the case studies about IT in today business environment. The case study is a way to establish valid and reliable evidence for the research. To explore the IT operations, this study mainly utilised qualitative data from the companies’ performance related to IT technology. Case study is the chosen methodology with two main questions that are raised– the “how” (how does the company apply IT technique in the business operation) and “why” (the influences of IT for their business performance). The analysis and compare of the data of the two big companies will show us the evidence for that IT does matter in today business environment, IT help the companies to effective the management, reduce the cost burden and get more profits. However, the results of this case study have limitations. The studied is limited to only two companies for their application of IT technology. The studies are based on secondary data (available case studies from literature). It is hard to make more compare due to the different sizes, scales, and status of the two companies. The questionnaire is a common management consulting way to obtain information. From the short form questionnaire to the detailed description, the questionnaire can have different specifications and a variety of styles. They can be used to collect information about participants. It is also applied to the collection of analytical data. This approach is full-featured and widely used. It is extremely important how to design a questionnaire to enable them to properly and efficiently meet the multiple objectives.

According to the different division ways of the questionnaire, it can be divided into face-to-face surveys, email surveys and telephone surveys. Face to face survey is the method for personal door surveys with the pre-designed questionnaire, followed by sequential questions for the answers. Mail surveys use the questionnaires that will be mailed to respondents by the designers. This survey's weakness is the low recovery rate of the questionnaire. Telephone survey is a method of investigation designed in accordance with pre-questionnaire respondents by telephone inquiry or comments.
